Redefining Success

A great philosopher once said;

I could spend a lifetime earning things I don't need That's like chasing rainbows and coming home empty. "

Ok tipu. Philosopher wak lu. Ini lirik lagu Natasha Bedingfield. Walaupun pop songs adalah synonymous dengan lirik berunsur lagha tahap langit ke tujuh but sometimes we can learn things from em. Buang yang keruh ambil yang kernih kekdahnya. For example this particular song lah.

Sampai tahap kejayaan seseorang tu diukur melalui berapa banyak Chanel kau ada, the type of car you drive around and the kind of house you live in. Haramjadah mindset shallow apakah ini?

Tak kira lah walaupun kau cikgu yang dedikasi, walaupun kau surirumah yang menjaga makan pakai suami, ataupun seorang pejuang seni melayu asli..kalau kau takda rumah banglo dua tingkat, kalau kau tak drive BMW, kalau kau tak mampu nak masuk Chanel tanpa diberi pandangan serong oleh sale assisstant, menurut pandangan rata-rata masyarakat masakini...kau manusia GAGAL.

It is sad to hear parents nowadays instead of telling their kids to study hard and contribute something meaningful to the society would tell them to excel in their studies so that later boleh ada rumah besar dan boleh drive kereta mewah. Sad.

That is why kita banyak tengok orang muda sekarang join bisnes yang tah apa-apa. Produk super tahi siap boleh claim therapeutic benefits tanpa melalui clinical studies lepastu jual harga ribu-ribu. Jalan mudah nak kaya, carik downline. Nak motivate downline, tayangkan kemewahan handbag limited edition, baju seluar designer labels. Ini semua mampu anda miliki jika ikut jejak langkah saya- tagline paling kerap dijaja.

The saddest part is people my age who since young has been taught that success = kaya raya ialah golongan paling mudah terpengaruh dengan model bisnes sebegini nurakka. Lepastu posing kipas duit depan muka upload besar-besar kat homepage facebook. Memang mengundang tapak kaki di skrin laptop.

Dont get me wrong. I have nothing against rich people. Most of successful people are rich. But not all rich people layak digelar successful. Taiko-taiko bisnes sistem marketing ala piramid illuminati yang gigih motivate downline kononnya, padahal sebab nak make sure aliran duit sentiasa masuk.

It's true that these people work hard for their money, tapi dengan produk yang sah-sah description macam alat Doremon agak-agak la nak menipu pembeli woi. So di mana barokah dia kat situ?

So the next time you think of uploading those pictures of you holding a stash of money with caption yang merendah-rendahkan pencapaian orang lain, think again. What exactly have you contributed to the society. Tapi satu hari nanti jangan terkejut masyarakat kita akan jadi masyarakat paling selfish dalam dunia, who will only do things if they get paid good money.

I guess what im trying to say is, let's focus less on materialistic possession and focus more on what you can contribute to the nation. Dan tak semestinya kaya = successful. Sekian.

"success isn’t about how much money you make. It’s about the difference you make in people’s lives."

-Michelle Obama

*Mode muhasabah diri.

(muhasabah diri kat panggung wayang pun bolehhhh)

hai dr hatim

I am really impressed by this time post. I copy what u wanna say. Being successful mmg bukan bergantung kepada materialistik semata-mata. itu konsep budaya kuning, eropah yg kita sudah lama kena permainkan. inilah kejayaan kaum laknat Yahudi utk hancurkan kebanyakan umat Islam. sedihnya lihat masa kecik lagi mak bapak dah bagi ipad buat anak main, kalau anak main dpn budak takde ipad, nnti budak yg takde ipad tu pun rebel minta ipad from his mom. benda mcam ni nampak remeh, tapi mmg merosakkan generasi muda. seriously, masa kecik, at school pun we had been continuously asked to excel so that we can be what we wanna be. just mention: doctor, pilot, businessman?? and etc. But is that all what we wanna achieve in life? sedihkan? matlamat bersifat wahan je disini selama ini kita diterapkan. bila masuk U dah mula ada nak masuk bisnes cari downline. I hate it from the start. Never trusted this. Bisnes macam tu mmg tak berguna langsung. I am so freaking marah hahaha. dah macam buat another blog here. sorry:)but u write what is so true.

Kalau dah ramai yang suka judge a book by it's cover, memang semua benda tu yang akan dipandang dulu...

Nampak je kereta mewah, matapun terbuntang padahal kereta tu maybe kereta pinjam je.. huhuhu...

Assalamualaikum,
This truly reminded me bout my students.

I asked them; "Why you need to study?"

they answered; "Because later in future, I can get good job and money."

What a mindset...and to think of.. I was once like that...sighs.

Regards,
Chumut

dulu itu laa yang selalu di set dalam kepala..belajar tinggi2 lepas tu boleh kumpul harta berkoyan-koyan..tapi bila dah meningkat umur being rich is not everything kalau jadi manusia yang hanya tahu penuhkan kehendak sendiri dan abaikan keperluan orang sekeliling..
nice entry from you hatim! :)

true, i was once like that, i always thought i really wanted branded things, but now those feeling just gone, i see they are other people who doesn't depend on brands' to be happy. i see a lot more smiles and happiness without materialistic as the main objective. i pray that brands' will not be the way to measure our success :)
