Family Medicine

Im in my third week of family medicine. So far so good. Last week we were required to do some practical stuff in the outpatient department. Basically nak suruh buat clinical skills like taking blood pressure,ECG,ambik darah and all that stuff.

Spent 2 days at the outpatient department doing.....NOTHING. Outpatient department dekat hospital adalah super busy. Jadi nurse dan MA memang takde masa nak melayan kau tunjuk ajar buat semua nih. Ini bukan rancangan Mentor kau nak harap orang mengadap kau ajar satu-satu skill.

Lepastu patient dekat hospital pulak memilih. Semua taknak student ambikkan darah sebab takut sakit. So penyudahnya duduk tengok je lah. Masuk 3rd day i cannot take it anymore. I decided to ditched hospital and join my friends at klinik kesihatan.

The best part about Klinik Kesihatan-other than their extremely sedap nasi lemak, (shoutout to makcik cafe KK jalan Perak woot woot) ialah its not as busy as hospitals. So the nurses and all the staff can actually guide you trough everything. Manage to withdraw blood on my first day at the clinic.

Dahlah semua staff sporting,kalau takde patient boleh sembang dengan staff nurse pasal tips perkahwinan. We actually learned a lot from those lovely people.

These pictures were taken when we were shown the interior of an ambulance. I dont know what the photographer has against me,tapi my gambar all sipi-sipi,so have to put some marking in case you cannot spot me hehe

That was last week. Minggu ini dimulakan dengan geriatric project pula. Kena buat holistic evaluation on an elderly patient. So kena pergi rumah dan interview dan periksa everything.

Our patient was so sporting and awesome she had beehon goreng prepared for us. And karipap. And cucur keledek. T_T

Overall, family medicine has been interesting so far, thanks to all the staff of Klinik Kesihatan Jalan Perak and Tok. Me love you long time.

Nur Kasih Tidak Best.Period.

Actually i have several other more serious posts waiting to be published in the archive but i decided to write this movie review first. Sebab i kenot tahan people saying this movie is so good,when its not.

Following the big hoohah in the media almost everyday since it came out,my expectation for NurKasih adalah seperti keyakinan Dr Rozmey yang filemnya akan mencapai 40 juta. Dan seperti Dr Rozmey juga i was sorely disappointed.

Let me start with a few good points;

Firstly the storyline is interesting. Sesiapa yang kata tak paham jalan cerita its either you sibuk 'ringan-ringan' in the cinema and didnt pay attention or you should really get your IQ checked. Because i didnt follow the series either,but can still understand the storyline.

Secondly, pelakon kanak-kanak dan pelakon pembantu sungguh terpuji bakat lakonannya. Jarang kita jumpa pelakon extra yang betul-betul berkaliber macamni. Selalunya pelakon extra inilah yang menjatuhkan kualiti sesuatu movie. Yes im talking about you, Merong Mahawangsa.

And finally, i love the subtle islamic message conveyed through this movie. Sebab cerita yang konon ala-ala islamik (case in point;Syurga Cinta) selalu macam ter-fake sikit cara penyampaiannya. NurKasih manage to overcome that effortlessly.

Sekarang kita lihat aspek negatif filem ini pula;

Bila orang kata ini filem sedih,they lied. Ini filem depress. Dari mula start sampai habis nangis manjang sampai kau dah letih nak emosi. Kalau campak Wan Maimunah dalam tu sambil diselang-selikan dengan setengah jam iklan antara babak komfem saling tak tumpah macam Cerekarama.

Bila dah over-over sangat menangis,penonton pun fed up weh. Sedih tak semestinya digambarkan dengan scene menangis,banyak cara lain nak bangkitkan mood sedih. Tengok aku dah bagi kuliah pembikinan filem pulak kat sini.

Dari sudut sinematografi ,i personally think Kabir Bhatia was trying too hard. Since this is a movie, he tried to put some 'special effect' which have quality of a powerpoint presentation at a Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Surau. Waktu dalam drama,sinematografi sumpah cantik sebab tak dicemari dengan efek-efek murah sebegini. Rasa nak gelak pun ada tengok scene orang arab terbakar.

Berkenaan plot cerita,penulis skrip macam nak masukkan sebanyak mungkin konflik dalam satu filem. Akibatnya semua musibah yang anda boleh fikirkan berlaku dalam keluarga ini. People died in accident, cedera teruk,keguguran kandungan, hilang tanpa berita dan macam-macam lagi. Satu keluarga ini patut buat fieldtrip ke bawah jambatan untuk mandi bunga.

So overall, i think its not worth it to watch NurKasih at cinema. Wait a while,it'll be on Astro First in no time.

If you refuse to believe in my questionable taste in movies,and still thinking of watching NurKasih at wayang,i just want to let you guys know that Norman Hakim is in this movie.

So,think again.lol.

Cerita Hantu Terpaling Saspen

I love weekends.

Weekend je lah time nak makan best dan berpeleseran tanpa wawasan. Selalunya weekdays breakfast,lunch,dinner beli belakang hospital. Kalau kena food poisoning senang aku saman satu row gerai belakang hospital tu.

Disebabkan semalam adalah malam minggu, me and the same group of friends had western food at Mikki's Western Junction dekat Jalan Pantai Jerejak. It's a small restaurant serving reasonably priced western food. I've been here before with other group of friends,but we didnt eat. Sebab diorang kata tempat ni tak halal.

Well guess what? its effin halal sucka! I've checked already,do you seriously think i would suggest a harom eating place?? Im probably the least religious person you know but im not planning to eat babi anytime soon hehe. The chef is a Malay cuma dia sewa tapak je dari cina.

I had one of the best Marinara Spaghetti and my friends had lamb chop and grilled stuff.

Seperti malam-malam minggu yang lalu,lepas makan kami pergi menonton wayang kerana malam masih muda. Ramai gila okeh orang dekat wayang kompem semua nak tengok NurKasih. So we decided to watch Insidious.

Insidious is the best horror movie i've watched at a cinema.ever.

Berbaloi bayar 9 ringgit tak macam zaman sekolah dulu tengok cerita Mistik tiket 11 ringgit. Razak Mohaideen bak balik 11 ringgit aku weh. Insidious is not like any other horror movie yang setiap 2 menet hantu keluar tunjuk muka. Hantu dia jenis yang keluar sekilas pandang so bila nampak kau macam 'omaigod aku sorang je ke yang nampak weh,nak azan sekarang'.

Walaupun saspen,cerita ni senang difahami. Tak macam cerita The Grudge yang kena buat peta minda baru boleh paham. Then as the story progress, jalan cerita jadi macam predictable. Sekali tiba-tiba dia buat twist as in twist dalam storyline dialah bukan hantu menari twist.Terus ending tak boleh blah horror gila. Its so scary sampai ada orang simbah diri sendiri dengan popcorn. Im not gonna name names here lah. *cough* marshitah *cough*

They say bring tissue to NurKasih because you will cry. For insidious i say bring pampers,you will pee your pants.

How Can I Help You Ma'am?

After 4 weeks of Medicine and Surgery rotation akhirnya sampai juga turn untuk Family Medicine. Basically, Family Medicine nih banyak belajar clinical skills je macam menjahit kebayaluka, ambik darah, ambik blood pressure and other stuff people do in Klinik Kesihatan.

The best part about Family Medicine is it's not as hectic as the previous two rotations. And the doctors teaching you is a lot nicer as well hehe. For this first week of the rotation we only have lectures in the morning so sungguh best sebab takpayah bangun awal pagi dan iron baju kemeja sebelum tidur.

Untuk meraikan this newfound freedom, me and few friends went to Seoul Garden semalam for lunch.

Then it got intense,kenot tahan dy;

-apabila etika diketepikan,tangan mula digunakan

Usually people will goreng the chicken/beef or whatever they have at Seoul Garden sikit-sikit. But being me,mana puas sikit-sikit woih. Sekali goreng atas tuh memang letak selambak.

-isnt this disgusting?? disgustingly good.

And today we have a video taping sesion. We had to interview this one lady,you know like the usual history taking that doctors do in clinics,but they decided to record it. Then the whole team will watch it back and cringe together.

I have the CD with me but i dont have the guts to upload my interview here. Kalau i upload dekat sini,sumpah takde orang nak datang kalau bukak klinik lepasni. So here is the print screen of the video;

-the interview was so bad.if i were to describe it in one word,it'd be DISASTER.

History taking in Family Medicine is a bit different than those in surgery/medicine. So its quite nerve wrecking plus you have to follow certain consultation guideline while gathering infos from the patient. That is why most of the time i wasnt even listening to that poor lady. Sorry aunty tehee.

And watching yourself back on video is like watching a very bad sitcom. The way you smile,and talk seems a bit phony. Sungguh tidak profesional dan menggelikan.Theres a few moments in the video where you can see my 'senyuman perogol'.

Now excuse me while i continue watching this disastrous interview and cringe.

Melankolik

Last weekend i went back to Nilai. My second time eversince i settled down in Penang. In case you slept through your geography class in highschool, Penang and Nilai is quite far from each other. Jadi adalah sungguh inconvenient untuk pulang setiap minggu. Melainkan bapak kau Tony Fernandes,maka boleh diva balik naik flight tiap minggu.

Bila dah lama tak balik rasa sungguh seronok bila dapat jumpa family. You realized that your mom subconciously being extra kind to you (takpayah basuh pinggan,massaging your head etc), your dad voluntarily paid for your expensive medical books walaupun JPA baru bagi elaun buku and your siblings....well siblings dont really change.

Then it hit me. Sepanjang hidup ni kalau ditotalkan ive spent most of my time with friends rather than with my family. Start sekolah menengah sampai form 5 duduk asrama. Habis SPM straight away went to UTP lepastu terus buat A-level.

pungpangpungpang dah fly duduk Dublin 2.5 years. And now im here in Penang. Lepas grad i have even less time with family. Ini sungguh sedih.

I still cant accept the fact that one of my younger brother has finished school and now is waiting for his uni/scholarship offer. Kids nowadays grow up super fast dont they? To make it worse, my younger brothers are both taller than me now. Mungkin ibubapa beli beras mahal sekarang.

Sejak balik dari Dublin sampai sekarang,i only met my youngest sister once. Itupun dalam sejam je waktu melawat dia dekat sekolah. She's an anak dara now,growing up gracefully and alhamdulillah is involve with her school's usrah thingy.

When she told me about her achievements,jadi head prefect lah,best debater lah i would laugh at her and go 'cannot be meh'. But secretly im so proud of her,i just dont say it out maybe because deep inside i hate the fact she's growing up so fast.

Growing up sucks,no? Inevitably,you will be drifted away from your family. And later when you start your own little family setahun sekalilah jumpa adik-beradik dan ibubapa. Itupun if you are lucky enough to get cuti for Hari Raya.

Despite living independently and practically raised myself for the last couple of years, i still need my parents to assure me that everything is going to be OK at the end of a really crappy day. I guess im still a little kid at heart walaupun muka macam duda beranak 6.

First step to mark my foray into adulthood:

Conquering my fear of driving on Penang Bridge. Selama ni my friend would drive my car whenever we lalu the bridge. One box ticked.

Yet Another Food Related Post

Ini kali pertama update belog tengahari buta. Sebab dah macam berapa hari tak update bila nak kaya woi? Merangkak-rangkak je duit nuffnang nih sebab jarang update. Bak kata pepatah;sikit-sikit lama-lama jadi IPad2.

Sebenarnya i tengah dok buat tutorial dalam bilik sekali terbau jiran sebelah masak ape benda entah. Bau tumis-tumis bawang,memang tak boleh fokus dah lepastu. Nasib baik jiran cina,kalau tak memang dah menebeng depan grill rumah dia mintak lauk.

Justeru,akibat rasa lapar melampau ini makanya post ini sekali lagi akan mengetengahkan tema makanan. Jika ada yang bosan dengan post sebegini dan mahukan sesuatu yang menyuburkan rohani sila tutup browser anda dan pergi baca muqaddam.

2 lagi destinasi makan akan dipaparkan. Yang pertama ialah Mee Ketam Juru. Ive read rave reviews about this particular mee ketam. So last weekend juga (memang semua binge eating time weekend je) me and few friends went to Juru to cekidaud.

Actually dekat Juru ni banyak restoren mee ketam. We went to Restoran Nelayan. Here are some pictures for you to drool over;

My verdict? The portion was a bit small for a 9 ringgit worth of mee. But then again its probably due to the fact that ketam nowadays are not cheap either. But rasa kuah mee ketam ini sungguh orgasmik,you can actually taste the ketam-ness (new word) in the kuah.

Walaubagaimanapun pihak restoren should consider choosing ketam with a lot more isi next time. Eh mengada lah kau,bayar nak murah isi nak banyak. Kira cukup baik dia tak guna crab stick Tesco jer.

Other than mee ketam, my friend had nasi goreng ketam. Which looks amazing,but i didnt taste it tho.

Destinasi kedua ialah Revolving Restaurant Bayview Hotel. My uncle and his family came all the way from Perak to Penang to celebrate mother's day on Sunday night. Mothers day in Penang? Trust me,i dont get it either.

He invited me to come along since this awesome nephew is living nearby. Bayview Hotel is located near Dewan Sri Pinang dekat dengan Padang Kota.

The revolving restaurant is at the top floor of the hotel. From there you can enjoy bird's eyeview of Penang island. Sungguh awesome di situ.

It took 45 minutes for the restaurant to complete one circle. So waktu baca doa makan anda mungkin nampak laut tapi waktu korek-korek gigi eh eh dah sampai Komtar.

I was too busy enjoying the view and eating like nobody's business,lupa nak ambik gambar makanan. These 2 pictures are all i got of the food;

Personally, i love the food here especially their roasted beef and tempura selections. Owh and their icecream section too. While eating you will be entertained by a hobo-looking singer. But the best part for me was i eat for free,thankyou Pak Lang please do this more often.

So to those who want to have romantic special dinner,this place is highly recommended. Because nothing says I LOVE YOU quite like a super tacky kissing swan centerpiece.

Kelab Pencinta Kambing

Anyone who knows me knows how much i love to eat kambing. Sorry PETA,no disrespect or whatever but i just love the taste of kambing meat. If kari kambing at mamaks are cheap im sure by now IJN would be my second home.

Jadi tema post kali ini ialah hidangan kambing. I will introduce you to two amazing kambing dishes for you kambing lovers (not in a sick sexual way) out there.

The first one ialah Sate Kambing Chowrasta Road. Jangan tanya i chowrasta road tu kat mana because all i know is its in Penang. Kedai dia kecik je,diusahakan oleh seorang makcik indonesia. The dish sate kambing itself ialah resepi indonesia.

Dia tak marinate macam sate melayu. Waktu nak bakar baru dia sapu apetah dekat daging tu.

I like how they dont overgrilled the satay so that the kambing is still juicy when you eat it. Kadang-kadang kedai sate selalu over panggang daging sampai keras bila gigit tertanggal gigi pelesu.

But the best part is their kuah kacang is unlike any other. Ini jenis yang bancuh secara live siap boleh adjust tahap kepedasan.

Dengan harga 60sen secucuk its totally worth it.

Destinasi kedua Kelab Pencinta Kambing minggu ini ialah the uber famous Puncak Mutiara Cafe dekat Kampung Pelet,BM Penang. Restoran ini best sebab dia terletak dalam kampung. Suasana kampung yang menyeliputi atmosfera restoran sekaligus membangkitkan selera makan. Description tak boleh over lagi ke hoi?

Tempat makan semua dalam pondok atap nipah. Pilih la nak yang duduk bersila ke or yang duduk atas kerusi. Kami memilih yang duduk bersila supaya senang nak kentut.

-Datin Seri dan air honeydew beliau. And thats my air kalamansi.

Satu lagi sepeselnya restoren ini ialah kambing-kambing di sini adalah diternak sendiri. Selain kambing, ostrich,puyuh,itik dan rabbit juga diternak di sini. Jadi walaupun ber-aura kampung, the price are a bit steep.

-telur dadar ostrich= 48 hengget. *nanges* Farmer's favourite katanyaaa.Petani mana yang kaya sangat tu woi makan telur dadar 48 ringgit?

I had Sizzling Lamb Chop. One of the best lamb chop i've tasted so far once again sebab they didnt overgrilled it. I hate well done meat/steak sebab bila makan rasa arang. Ini ialah just nice. I approve.

-My friend's briyani something. Ada kambing and ayam because he was too tamak to choose between those two.

After makan,we spent some time wandering around the area. As i mentioned earlier, their kambing,ostrich,rabbit and friends adalah diternak sendiri. Jadi anda bolehlah melawat haiwan-haiwan ini di kandang mereka as a nice gesture since you probably just ate their family members for dinner.

-i've never been this close to kambing hidup before.what.....an achievement.

Long Weekend

Hello people!! Sorry for the long hiatus (baru berapa hari je weh). I baru pulang dari menghabiskan weekend di kampung bersama atuk,opah dan makhluk debab ini;

Opah,atuk,my uncle and few family members just got back from umrah. So they had some kenduri on Friday night. How can you not love kenduri when you have two trays of rendang ayam kampung untuk dilahap?

-ahhh absolute bliss.

-ramai orang masjid datang. sampai kena 'open table' dekat porch sekali.

On Sunday i went to Pangkor with my uncle and his family. Its a super random impromptu vacation,planned the night before.

-i told you this was totally impromptu,kamera dengan sunblock pun tak bawak. Kamera phone cap tupai ni je lah yang ade.

-duduk di verandah sambil mendengar bunyi ombak. Exactly what i asked for from God few days back. I must've done something right.

We only spent one night in Pangkor. But the next day tuh we checked out at 4pm. Sukahati makbapak je. Siap buat barbeque for lunch.

Lepas mentekedarah 3 ketul ayam dan 2 ekor ikan bakar, i went on this pelampung terbang ride with my cousins. Not a smart move.

Ini macam banana boat tapi lebih ekstrem. Melayang-layang kena tarik dengan speed boat, kalau seluar longgar memang bogel lah kau berarak keliling pantai. Dahlah baru lepas makan, rasa nak muntah balik je ayam bakar.

Habis mandi laut i thought nak balik dah since i planned to go back to Penang straight away after that. Sekali semua pakat terjun kolam pulak. So long, Penang

Penyudahnya awal-awal pagi ni baru drive balik. Sampai tol jambatan tengah-tengah beratur tuh i turned to my right and saw this;
